How a map works
What a map is made of, in the words the rest of the guide uses.
Maps, blocks and connections#
A map is one infinite canvas for one subject. You fill it with blocks and join the blocks with connections.
A block is one card: a title and, when you open it, a short note and a longer text. A connection is a line from one block to another. It leaves the bottom of the first block and enters the top of the second, and that direction matters: the first block is the parent and the second is its child.
Nothing limits how many blocks or connections a map holds, so a map can be as big as its subject.
Branches#
A branch is a block together with everything that hangs under it: its children, their children, and so on, following the solid connections downwards. The + under a selected block adds a child, so each press starts a branch or grows one.
The branch is the unit the rest of the guide keeps coming back to. You can ask the AI to build one, and you can open only one branch to a person you invite instead of the whole map.
A dashed connection is different. It says "is related to", where a solid one says "contains". A dashed connection relates two blocks; it never moves a block out of the branch it sits in. To change one, click the connection and pick Solid or Dashed.
How strong a connection is#
Every connection has a strength, which says how much it matters. Click a connection to open its small panel and pick Weak link, Normal link, Strong link or Core link. A new connection starts at Normal.
You choose a strength yourself, and a line's thickness shows it: a Core connection is drawn thicker than a Weak one, on the canvas and in the graph view. Mark only a few connections as strong. If every line is strong, none of them stands out.
The graph view also works out two more kinds of strength on its own: See and find things in a map explains all three.
Maps inside maps#
A map can hold whole maps of its own, and those can hold maps in turn. Each inner map has its own blocks and connections, so a large subject can be a tree of maps instead of one crowded canvas.
What Corlecti Map never limits#
Blocks and connections are never limited, on any plan. A few things are measured instead: how much work the AI does, how many maps you have and how much room your files take. Plans and allowances says how much each plan includes.
These are included on every plan, Free too: writing, connecting, colouring and arranging on the canvas, the graph view and its findings, both searches, your own AI key, every export, publishing a map, saved versions, and people you invite only to read or comment.
